I couldn't have said it better

Recent opinion posted by Jamie Lee Curtis:

Debate Not Relate

The scariest thing I hear about the Palin nomination was that she would appeal to voters because they would be able to relate to her and she to them. I get that. There are many places where relatability is key. I am a recovering addict alcoholic and finding another group that relates to my struggles is/was key to my sobriety. When I am at school I find myself grouping with others whose kids share the same issues, interests.

People tell me all the time that the More magazine article where I showed what my real body looked like in comparison to the air brushed images most women are fed, was important and made me relatable. That too is great. The problem is I may be relatable and share some of your experiences and concerns but you don't want me as president of United States.

Hanna Spawns Rain and Wind in Hollywood

Raining heavily this morning, with very gusty winds. Here is a snapshot forecast of Hanna leaving and Ike arriving.

And yes, the pink dot is Hurricane IKE as a Cat. 4 storm.

Protests over world's cheapest car

A $2,500 car!

Can you imagine the riots we would have around here?

Well.. looks like low tech and high tech is clashing in India regarding the manufacturing of this vehicle.

Talks are taking place to resolve a dispute over the planned manufacture of the cheapest car in the world.

Protesters claim that 400 acres of farmland was seized from local villagers to build the factory that makes the Nano, produced by India's Tata group.

Violent demonstrations have been taking place outside the plant.

Storms Rolling in off of Hanna

An early night fall tonight as storm clouds roll off of Hanna.

Our biggest concern, however is Hurricane Ike. This powerful hurricane has his sights on the Miami/Ft Lauderdale Metro Area.

GOP Resurrects TV Classic

So, there I was, sitting there waiting for the GOP to show me their campaign platform so that I would have something to complain about today, when I realized that what was on the TV was the GOP's version of that TV Classic: Dean Martin's Celebrity Roast!

All the regulars were there: Milton Berle (Lieberman), Jonathan Winters (Huckabee), Joey Bishop (Romney), Don Rickles (Giuliani) and of course everybody's favorite, Phyllis Diller (Palin).

Tonight, they will be rolling out that GOP Favorite Son, Bob Hope (McCain).

Sorry Sammy, this is a Whites Only event.
Maybe next time.

Keeping a sharp eye on Hanna & Ike

Looks like Hanna might make it up to parched NC & VA.

Hurricane Ike looks like it will probably hit South Florida.

This week on Bill Maher

This week on an all new live edition of Real Time, Bill welcomes actress Kerry Washington, former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan, former Lt. Gov. Michael Steele (R-MD), and Real Time correspondent Dan Savage.

Real Time with Bill Maher airs at 11:00pm Friday on HBO.

Enough is Enough Already!

With our economy in the tank and our infrastructure in tatters, I just wonder where we as U.S. Citizens should draw the line in regards to paying for other nations to rebuild their lives.

Enough already! How the hell are we going to pay for this? We've got to get the Republicans out of office and shore up our shores before we bankrupt this country helping others. It is not fiscally sound to keep spending, spending and spending on other people and letting this country go to seed!

The US has announced $1bn (£564m) of aid to Georgia for reconstruction after the conflict with Russia.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said the aid would be used to rebuild houses and infrastructure - but not for military purposes.

German citizen test 'too hard'

Just how hard is it? Is there something here the U.S. could learn about?

A multiple-choice test to qualify for German citizenship is proving controversial. The government insists new immigrants should have a good grasp of German and the country's customs and culture.

But many politicians say the test is too hard - even for born and bred Germans - and Turkish community leaders argue it adds another hurdle for immigrants.

Global Views on Public Sex

Two Britons have appeared in court in Dubai after allegedly having sex on a beach in the Muslim emirate. What would happen if a couple got frisky on a beach in the UK?

The fact that there is any discussion at all just shows how such puritan views in the U. S. does not even open this topic for debate in this country!

The Fanatical Constituent Awakening

I think the reason I'm most concerned about the GOP nomination of Gov. Sarah Palin is the awakening of the fanatical constituency that helped elect George W in 2000 and 2004.

Three months before she was thrust into the national political spotlight, Gov. Sarah Palin was asked to handle a much smaller task: addressing the graduating class of commission students at her one-time church, Wasilla Assembly of God.

Her speech in June provides as much insight into her policy leanings as anything uncovered since she was asked to be John McCain's running mate.

Speaking before the Pentecostal church, Palin painted the current war in Iraq as a messianic affair in which the United States could act out the will of the Lord.

The very thought of this GOP Patty Hearst being just one step away from the button scares the daylights out of me. Her lack of knowledge of national and world history is most alarming. The Christian/Hillbilly mindset that has now been awakened by this nomination gives this Democrat pause and an even more determination to ensure that the Obama/Binden ticket wins this November.

We do not need another 4 years of fanatical policies running this great country of ours. We see what the last eight years have wrought, surely there are enough US citizens that can defeat this repressive governmental mindset that has been given to us by the GOP these last 8 years.

GOP: Any Woman, Any Black, Any Unoriginal idea

And of course, any lie.

This Huffington Post article is worth a read.

Squeaky

I've talked about him, but never shown him here on the blog.

Here we are today doing our Nude pose.

Gustav, The GOP Photo Op

As the Gulf Coast braces for Hurricane Gustav, a Cat. 3 storm, the GOP is milking it for all it is worth. Where would they be if they were not scheduled to have a convention starting tomorrow? Well.. according to McCain, they would continue to not being Americans, since now that the truth is out ... they only act like Americans anyway. There is a big difference in being an American and just acting like one.

"This is a time when we have to do away with our party politics and we have to act as Americans." —Full Story

Bringing more attention to themselves, Both Bush and McCain are sacrificing their convention's party to help the yet unnamed victims with Bush "riding out the storm" in Waco and McCain in Mississippi and the demand by McCain to "pass the hat" for the needy. How rich of him!

This is going to be a photo op for the bigwigs of the GOP who snoozed through Katrina three years ago. Should Hanna or the next storm threaten the US coast, how much coverage by the GOP will we see? If Hanna hits North Carolina as a Cat 2 storm, will their Democrat Governor get this massive GOP aid and help, or will they have to fill out all the paperwork requesting help and then personally beg Bush for FEMA to come and give them a hand?

What a shame that most people will not see what is really going on. Most of the recipients of this aid have been evacuated and most will not have access to TV.

Meanwhile, Barrack has made a couple of statements. After watching TV since 1:00pm today, neither statement has been repeated. It is obvious that the Networks/Cable news outlets are in GOP Convention mode, shutting out the Democrats.

Yep.. a GOP Photo Op. How long before the ad: "McCain was first to respond to the needs of New Orleans rather than tending to his campaign and party. See here as convention participants act like Americans by passing The Bush and McCain's 10-Gallon hat to help the poor, second world country of Louisiana lead by its young GOP governor. See our own Sarah Palin offer the Balloons from our balloon drop that we didn't use, to the victims for something to float on. After all, we are giving all we can to the American People;

'LOOK AT HOW MUCH WE CARE.'

'LOOK HOW WELL WE ACT LIKE AMERICANS!
'"

It is enough to make me vomit!
